For anyone working in public speaking, further education, coaching, or consulting. On one hand, it enables a scientifically sound analysis of the individual communication repertoire, and on the other, it empowers the expansion of this repertoire. Furthermore, the individuals concerned can guide their clients in reflection within this very field and inspire and effectively accompany them regarding their communication skills.
After more than 40 years of dealing with this question, Andreas Bornhäußer defines this phenomenon as follows: “Charisma is the ability to recognize what is needed, the skill to do and say what is required, and the truthfulness to remain true to oneself in the process.” The short version of this formulation is: Situational interaction competence.
It possesses high perceptual competence. Its eyes can move in a 360° angle. Furthermore, the chameleon is characterized by high adaptability. And finally, it is a prehistoric animal. This animal has likely existed for more than 100 million years. And since then, it has remained more or less true to itself in constitution and appearance.
The SCIL Profile is the only diagnostic tool that objectively and holistically maps a person’s perception and impact competencies—in other words, their communication repertoire. Furthermore, it offers a comprehensive set of training tools designed to expand one’s personal repertoire.
In 1980, the creator and licensor of the SCIL Profile, Andreas Bornhäußer, attended a 2-day presentation seminar with the renowned European expert for sales and behavioral training, Max Meier-Maletz. The seminar participants were fascinated by the charismatic personality of the seminar leader. And in Bornhäußer, the desire was ignited to examine and understand the phenomenon of charisma more closely. The foundation was laid.
In the following years, he developed the impact and perception diagnostic SCIL Profile together with an interdisciplinary team, with which 143 partners in seven countries and four languages work today (2025).
Participants complete a web-based questionnaire comprising 100 items available on the internet. Using a factor analysis along the 4 frequency ranges Sensus, Corpus, Intellectus, and Lingua, and a total of 16 frequencies, the answers are evaluated and an individual profile documentation of approximately 40 pages is automatically generated.

*Note on gender-inclusive language
Gender-inclusive language is currently being debated quite heatedly in some quarters. It is not yet foreseeable how the language will change and what will prevail. In March 2021, the Council for German Orthography published the following statement: “The gender asterisk will not be officially recognized for the time being.” For this reason, and also in the interest of readability, we have refrained from marking our texts with a gender asterisk or spelling out all gender-inclusive forms at every point. We respect all people equally, regardless of gender, skin color, or sexual orientation. In some places we use only the feminine form and in others the masculine form. We hope that all readers will nevertheless feel addressed. We fundamentally reject any form of exclusion.
